Is coaching like psychotherapy?


Coaching and psychotherapy are very different. Psychotherapy deals with healing psychological issues and is generally long term and intensive.  It often focuses on past history and how it relates to that individual's development.

 

Coaching is proactive and action oriented.  It acknowledges personal issues, but focuses on skill development and creating new strategies for meeting life's daily challenges.

 

Through Coaching you will learn new behaviors and habits and even new ways of thinking to overcome areas of difficulty. The agenda is initiated  by you to meet your own particular needs, desires and goals. A coach will work with you to enhance your skills and build more awareness and responsibility.
